Meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm by Bill Goodall. Introduction of members was given. There were 19 members in attendance. Treasurer gave his report for the previous month. We received a letter of thanks from the Training Center for the $300.00 we donated to them. Old Business: None New Business: After the government gave a list of survival tips in case of attack someone wrapped their house completely in plastic wrap. They also said you need plenty of water. Trevor introduced David Spoelstra - N9KT, now the State Government liaison for ARRL. He talked to us about the Indiana Senate bill ( sb109 ) rubber stamp prv109 - where local government can't restrict antenna height to 75' or less. Walter Cronkite is on a video about amateur radio at ARRL.net and you can download the 6 1/2 minute video. Send emails or letters to your State Senator and ask them how they stand on this issue as well as voice your opinion. ARRL has links to them on the Indiana ARRL website. Broadripple Hamfest Saturday, August 9, 2003. Dayton Hamfest will be moved to Wright-Patterson Airbase. Meeting was turned over to Trevor. The topic for the evening was National Traffic Nets. Trevor introduced Frank Dick - WA9JWL. He is one of the Net Control operators. They have roll call and check-in people to this informal net to pass traffic, in local areas on VHF and UHF, Indiana is the 9th region. Sectional net is at 8:30 am which includes IN, KY, IL and WI. This is a four state regional net. Then they pass this on to the Central Area net at 3:00 pm on 20 meters. There is also Trans Continental, and Great Lakes nets, which are direct links. Frank also talked about net procedures on the nets, the wheres, whys and hows of its use. If interested in this net you can check it out at the Indiana web site at www.inarrl.net also check out the radiograms. Bill adjourned the meeting at 8:50 pm. At March's meeting we will have an Amateur Radio show and tell. So if anyone has anything to bring in and tell us about, whether it is a radio, antenna or etc., we will be looking forward to hearing about it at Friday's meeting.
